The India Experience
'India Experience' takes you to some of the must-see locations of this fascinating country in a four-week roundtrip.
Start your India discovery with an exploration of the vibrant capital New Delhi. Then visit the enchanting Taj Mahal and continue the journey with visits to the oriental cities of Jaipur and Pushkar.
A train ride will bring you to the majestic Himalayan Mountains, home of the Dalai Lama. Your trip comes to an end in Goa, the tropical beach paradise at the Arabian Sea.
All of this plus much more will take your breath away and reward you with unforgettable impressions.
During your scouting expedition throughout India, you and the group of volunteers will ride on elephants through a fairytale like castle.
We then switch 'vehicles' and mount camels for a ride through the desert; here you will spend an breathtaking night watching the star-studded sky.
Another once-in-a-lifetime experience on the itinerary: a trekking trip through the Himalayan Mountains. At our base, the day begins with morning flow yoga. In the evenings, you will learn dance moves known from Bollywood films or participate in henna workshops.
In cooking courses, our chef will show you all the tricks to prepare tasty Indian meals. Impress your friends back home with your new cooking skills. Besides all the adventures, sightseeing and participation in workshops, we have allocated plenty of time for short-term volunteering projects during the stopovers on this fantastic India experience.
The king city of Jaipur is the capital of Rajasthan and home to our big city project. The city looks like its part of the Arabian Night fairy tale, complete with the famous Palace of the Winds. You will live in our volunteer house and help with a variety of projects.
There are many possible ways for you to spend your free time in this Indian metropolis. Be swept away by the colorful business and overkill of smells of this palace city.
This stop in Jaipur has a standard option, in which you can concentrate entirely on your work. There is also an adventure option that includes excursions and adventures.
This fairy tale land of kings and palaces is the most densely populated desert region of the world and represents what you might think is the typical India.
Nevertheless, rural India is now being neglected and will continue to struggle without the help from people like you. You will live in a volunteer camp in a village from which your project begins.
Similar to Jaipur, the Rajasthan project offers you two options to choose from: a standard option in which you can fully concentrate on your volunteering or an adventure add-on that will carry you off on the back of a camel into the dreamlike land of Mughal.
Goa looks like a dreamlike beach paradise on the clear India Ocean. You will quickly realize that the smallest state in India can be your paradise as well, as it is more relaxing here than anywhere else.
You will live in a beautiful camp under palm trees and be able to reach the beach in ten minutes with one of our rental bikes. The beach is a meeting point for people from all around the world. Summer in Goa is never ending, as the temperature doesn’t drop below 20 degrees Celsius (68 degrees Fahrenheit).
In Goa you will work half the day with one of our projects. You can make additional discoveries by booking the adventure option.
Goa Wildlife Project
As India grows rapidly, habitats for wild animals have become restricted and conflicts between humans and animals have become more frequent. In Goa you will help with a unique project of rescuing animals and preparing them to go back into the wild.
This project has a standard option where you can completely focus on the animals.
At the beginning of the adventure option, we will take you on an excursion to Lonavla. We will organize trips to different caves in the area, such as the Karla cave as well as the Bhaja cave, which holds archeological and religious importance.
Goa Turtle Conservation Project
In the Goa turtle project, you will help to protect the survival of these fascinating creatures. One aspect of this project is to trace and enclose turtles into safe environments. This includes rescuing eggs found on beaches so that the baby turtles can hatch in protected areas before they are set free into the sea.
Goa is famous for its beautiful palm beaches along the pristine waters of the Arabian Sea. It is no wonder that Goa attracts so many young backpackers and thousands of travelers from around the world. Unfortunately though, people often overlook the fact that these beaches are also the natural habitat of Goa's turtles the place they lay their eggs. Sometimes people and nature simply get in one another’s way -- Goa's beaches are a striking example.
Another important aspect is the provision of local schools with turtle awareness training. The excursions, cooking courses, and yoga classes included within the adventure option truly complete your experience.
Both of our volunteer houses are located in one of the most beautiful valleys in India, surrounded by tea gardens and mountains higher than 7,000 meters (22,966 feet). The Dalai Lama and the exiled Tibetan community also call this place home.
Clear air and stunning nature that has not been discovered by tourists makes our Himalayas project the most popular for volunteers by far.
The Alps look like hills in comparison to the Himalayas! In the standard option you will concentrate entirely on your work in schools and social projects.
With the adventure option, you can go on discovery trekking tours through the mountains and visit the Golden Temple in Amritsar.
